G7 Update - Grandfathering principle: Regularize your Existing Stock
As of September 1, 2024, the third phase regarding the G7 sanctions on Russian diamonds has been introduced. Part of this new phase is the possibility for Belgian Registered Diamond companies and foreign diamond companies - under certain conditions - to make use of the so-called Grandfathering principle to reguluarize their existing stock of Russian or unknown origin diamonds.
AWDC is committed to assisting companies in regularizing their goods that fall under the category ‘grandfathering’. To ensure a smooth process, we have developed a comprehensive document outlining the entire Grandfathering procedure and a clear decision tree to guide you through the process step by step. These resources are available in the 'interesting downloads' section:
- Grandfathering Decision Tree (and the Cheat Sheet version with extra advise and suggestions): a document that guides you through the process of regularizing your existing stock.
- Grandfathering Procedure Guide: a fully written document that explains in detail and step by step for all possible scenarios how your existing stock can be regularized, which documents are needed for import and export, and how you can finally obtain a Grandfathering certificate.
- Grandfathering Documentary Evidence-Based Checklist
- Diamond Office Template - G7GF Declaration (and the Cheat Sheet version): a digitally fillable standard template for regularizing existing stock. This document can be downloaded and a completed version must accompany the goods in case of import or export via Diamond Office.
There is also a Grandfathering webinar available, in which the Grandfathering principle is briefly and concisely explained and how to put it into practice. You can watch the webinar here:
